Arvidsson traded to BOS

Viktor Arvidsson was traded to the Boston Bruins by the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

The Oilers received a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft for the 32-year-old forward.

Arvidsson had 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) in 67 regular-season games for the Oilers last season and seven points (two goals, five assists) in 15 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

"Just really happy and excited, first of all," Arvidsson said. "Both me and my whole family are excited to be a part of the Bruins. Just coming to a great sports city. It’s going to be really fun.

"I think it's just coming to a new place. I've done it before. I think you've just got to be yourself and try to gel with guys and have fun, first of all. I think that's going to be really important. Talking to some of the guys on the team that reached out, it seems like a really tight-knit group. I think it's going to be a really good year."

Arvidsson has 389 points (194 goals, 195 assists) in 613 regular-season games for the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and Oilers. In 87 postseason games, he has 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists).

He has one season remaining on the two-year, $8 million contract he signed with the Oilers as an unrestricted free agent July 1, 2024

“Netfront. He’s got some grease there, knows timing is also part of the netfront," Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said. "Most of the guys that are effective there, they get their stick on a lot of pucks. It’s not by coincidence they’re in the right spots when the rebound is there. He has a good feel for that. He’s got courage as well. He’s not the biggest guy, but he’s played the same way his whole career. He’s produced. He recovers pucks well, and that’s also a part of that netfront ability.”.

Arvidsson said he knows Bruins coach Marco Sturm from working with him with the Kings.

"We’ve known each other and I've been playing under him," Arvidsson said. "He was my power play coach in L.A. I just think he sees the game really well, he played it and he gets it. So I think that's going to be a really good coach for the team and for a young group that we are, pushing for playoffs and that kind of stuff.

"I'm going to come there, I'm going to play a responsible game. I think Marco knows exactly what he's getting from me. I'm going to help offensively and bring scoring. I know I can do that. I know I had a little bit of a tough time last year with that and the opportunity, so I think I'm going to bring that. I know that. I'm really confident that I'm going to make the team better."
